Train to Busan director Yeon Sang Ho has been hired to direct the live-action Japanese manga project Parasyte: The Grey. The series project will air on Netflix. Written by Variety, Yeon Sang Ho will direct a row of Korean stars who have been hooked up for the project. Among them, Jeon So Nee, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Lee Jung Hyun have been confirmed to be the stars of Parasyte: The Grey. 

Climax Studio and Wow Point will be the production team for the series for Netflix. Jeon So Nee previously starred in When My Love Blooms and Encounter. In the project, he will play one of the characters who are victims of parasites. Koo Kyo Hwan previously starred in Ashin of the North and the sequel Train to Busan: Peninsula will play a character named Seol Kang Woo who is looking for his missing sister.

Lee Jung Hyun, who previously played in Roaring Currents, will play the leader of Team Grey, a team that will fight parasites. Her husband died of these parasites, so she dedicated her life to eradicate them. Parasyte: The Gray is a story about unidentified parasitic creatures that live in the human body and try to strengthen themselves. Over time the parasites interfere with human life and humans begin to fight against them.

Parasyte: The Gray manga is written by Iwaaki Hitoshi and published by Kodansha in Morning Open Zkan and Monthly Afternoon magazines. The comic was released between 1988 and 1995 with sales of over 25 million copies in over 20 countries. The story of Parasyte: The Gray combines fantasy and philosophy. Throughout its history, the comics have been made into anime and live-action films between 2014 and 2015. 

Both films grossed US$22.4 million. For the Netflix adaptation, Yeon Sang Ho will work with screenwriter Ryu Young Jae. Ryu Young Jae's previous Netflix project was Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area. Previously, Yeon Sang Ho had released the Hellbound series also on Netflix.
