Since its first broadcast, Squid Game has been stealing global attention. Even a number of international awards have been won by the Netflix production series. Not long ago, Squid Game managed to win big at the 74th Emmy Awards which was held in Los Angeles, United States on September 12, 2012.

They brought home 6 trophies at the event. In a press conference held to celebrate their victory, Hwang Dong Hyuk as the director of Squid Game, said that their victory was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. He also feels these awards are very valuable recognition. But at the same time, Hwang Dong Hyuk also expressed his regret.

This is because he never thought Squid Game would be so popular that he easily killed a number of popular characters in the drama. "I wanted to bring Ji Young back to life, but her best friend, Sae Byeok, also died. So I'm thinking about what to do," said Hwang Dong Hyuk at the press conference.

"Many characters die, especially those who are very loved. I'm sorry for killing them so easily. I didn't know it would be this popular," he continued. The popularity of Squid Game finally made the production team agreed to make a second season. The plan, Squid Game 2 will be aired in 2024. Meanwhile, Squid Game took home 6 trophies from 14 nominations.

They took home the Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Contemporary Program, Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series for Hwang Dong Hyuk, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for Lee Jung Jae, Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series for Lee You Mi, Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode, and Outstanding Stunt Performance.
