Launching from Koreaboo, recently Yeji and Lia ITZY were guests on an event called Things That Make Me Groove, along with hosts Super Junior's Kyuhyun , WINNER's Mino , and Jiwon Sech Skies. During the event, Jiwon said that he had heard of one of the ITZY members auditioning for SM before joining JYP Entertainment.

Then Lia replied that she was the one who auditioned, and Kyuhyun was very surprised by saying "There's no way SM rejected Lia, so why didn't she enter SM?" he said. To answer curiosity, Lia revealed that while she was studying in Canada, she went to SM's global audition and passed. However, his parents opposed him becoming an idol at a young age, so he returned to Canada to complete his studies.

Still curious, Kyuhyun asked why Lia chose JYP Entertainment over SM, Lia decided to reveal the whole story behind her choosing JYP Entertainment over SM. Lia said after she graduated from high school, Lia returned to Korea to audition again at SM. She also decided to audition for all major companies, including JYP Entertainment, and the JYP Entertainment open audition was the first audition he had ever auditioned for.

To further clarify why Lia went to JYP Entertainment first, Lia revealed that JYP Entertainment opened auditions earlier than SM or YG, that's why Lia went to JYP Entertainment first. With her outstanding talent, Lia passed the audition on her first try, so she chose JYP Entertainment and became a trainee there.

Kyuhyun couldn't help but be surprised by a small reason but with a big impact. To him, it seems that SM also needs to pay attention to audition opening times rather than just focusing on talent. It's possible that many talented people didn't enter SM just because they were accepted in another company a few days earlier.

Kyuhyun is not part of the SM executive team, but his thought process and despair of losing a talent like Lia is a testament to his loyalty to his company (although that loyalty may be because he owns a stake in the company). Even so, now Lia has become a member of the popular girl group, ITZY which is under the auspices of JYP Entertainment Entertainment.
