Recently, it was reported that IVE had canceled their appearance at the Kyungpook University Festival because one of the members had a visa problem. Reported by Koreaboo on Wednesday October 5, 2022, Starship Entertainment later stated that IVE was never scheduled to appear at the university event.
The agency also said that although they had received an invitation to appear, they declined. Kyungpook University then released another statement stating that Starship Entertainment not only approved IVE's performance, but that they had sent payment for the group's appearance through a third-party agency of the label, and concluded a contract agreement.
They also state that they have invoices and payment history to prove it. The statement became controversial, and on October 5, 2022, Starship Entertainment again issued the following statement. We would like to issue our official statement for performances on October 6 at Kyungpook National University and Keimyung College University regarding IVE's attendance.
All requests for our artists' appearances at events and concerts are made through third-party agencies, and the Starship agency does not have a list of appearances at the university. We received a request through a third-party agency in September to appear at the university. However, due to schedule conflicts, we were unable to accept and did not respond to invitations.
All meetings regarding the show are with third-party agencies, which we have never confirmed that IVE will perform. When we learned that IVE was on the list of appearances at the Kyungpook University Festival, we notified our third-party agency to remove the group name immediately, but no action was taken.
In addition, we do not receive any information regarding the agreed contract or show fee transaction. We would like to apologize to the university and students who were affected by the mishandling of the incident by a third-party agency ." Apparently, according to Starship Entertainment,
IVE was never confirmed to appear at Kyungpook University, while the university accused them of working with a third-party agency and had paid for the group's performance fee. However, Starship Entertainment claimed that there was a mishandling of the negotiations, and that they never received any performance fees or communications regarding the contract with the university.
