Under The Queen's Umbrella follows the story of Queen Hwa Ryeong who is supposed to be graceful and wise.

He was blessed with five sons, with the first child being the Crown Prince, and four troublesome young princes. Queen Hwa Ryeong tries to turn her sons into four dashing princes who live up to the public's expectations. This is because the Crown Prince is known to suffer from an illness. This drama focuses on showing the palace education system during the Joseon Dynasty era. Under The Queen's Umbrella stars a number of top actors.

Among them are Kim Hye Soo, Kim Hae Sook, to Ok Ja Yeon. This drama is stealing attention because it is considered to bring a different story, with a curious plot from the first episode. Even so, the acting of the young actors sparked criticism from the public. While Kim Hye Soo is considered successful and well shows the various emotions that a queen and mother feel, the acting of the prince actors is considered unable to match the senior actress.

Moreover, it is known that the prince character stars young actors such as Bae In Hyuk, Moon Sang Min, Yoon Sang Hyeon, Yoo Seon Ho, Park Ha Joon, Moon Sung Hyun, to Kang Chan Hee. The public judged that when senior actors competed against each other, they could see a very strong chemistry between the two.

One of the highlights is when the queen and mother-in-law (Kim Hae Sook) face each other. But when the scene shifts to Prince Seong Nam's interaction with Prince Ui Sang, the chemistry is lost. The two actors, Moon Sang Min and Kang Chan Hee, failed to show the same tension. "It feels like Kim Hye Soo is working hard on this series," said one netizen. "Prince Ui Sang's acting needs serious help," added another.
