A civil servant from South Korea tries to take advantage after finding missing items belonging to Jungkook BTS . He sold KANGOL's black bucket hat and raised the price 10 times. The South Korean civil servant had previously promoted Jungkook BTS's bucket hat on an online buying and selling site. He also introduced himself as a government official working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and even uploaded his ID card as proof.
He further explained that he found the bucket hat when Jungkook BTS visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in September 2021. The BTS personnel accidentally left it in the waiting room when they wanted to make diplomatic passports. "Jungkook left his hat in the waiting room last year when BTS went to the passport department secretly to make diplomatic passports," he explained as quoted by allkpop.
But Jungkook BTS did not look for his black bucket hat that was left behind at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office. The civil servant finally sold the black bucket hat from KANGOL for 10 million won (around Rp. 108 million) on an online buying and selling site. "There were no phone calls or visits for six months looking for the item even after it was reported missing. So the person who found it can take possession of it."
In the product description, the civil servant said that the price of the Jungkook BTS bucket hat might increase because it could not be found anywhere else. "This is the KANGOL bucket hat that Jungkook is wearing. The condition is very good. This is something that is priceless and cannot be obtained with money. He is a famous singer worldwide, I predict the price will go up."
Black bucket hats like Jungkook BTS's can actually be purchased online through the KANGOL brand's official website. Collection of 'Bermuda bucket hat' is sold for 70 dollars (or around Rp. 1 million). Jungkook BTS was seen wearing this bucket hat during rehearsals for the MUSTER SOWOOZOO concert in June 2021.
After promoting the Jungkook BTS bucket hat on the Korean community forum, the civil servant drew controversy and deleted his post because it was criticized. He also turned himself in to the police station and took Jungkook BTS' bucket hat on Tuesday October 18, 2022. Currently the Seocho district police office, Seoul is taking over the case and investigating the South Korean civil servant.
