Super Junior's Heechul donated 100 million won on February 16 to support the healing and recovery of youth affected by school violence or bullying. The news was reported by Wikitree and a report from the Blue Tree Foundation on February 21. Through the Blue Tree Foundation, Heechul revealed the reason for donating, "I want to help youth who are victims of school violence.
Victims of school violence live with mental and physical scars throughout their lives." The idol continued his lofty goal of making donations to affected victims by saying, "I decided to donate in the hope that no youth will suffer from violence at school anymore." Meanwhile, Kim Kyung Seong - chairman of Blue Tree Foundation - thanked Heechul, "We sincerely thank singer Kim Heechul for participating in supporting the spread of non-violent culture among youth."
They added, "We will do our best to help youth who have been victims of school violence regain their daily lives." The Blue Tree Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to preventing violence in schools. This NGO was founded by a father who lost his only son due to violence at school.
Meanwhile, Heechul's donation to victims of violence is attracting much attention amidst several controversies that recently ensnared him, for example the controversy that arose over Heechul's several messages on Bubble which were full of swearing. According to one netizen, Heechul made fans concerned because he was used to using harsh words on the platform.
Apart from that, he also always posts about his personal life on Bubble without hesitation, including activities that don't need to be exposed to the public like going to nightclubs. Previously, the idol also came under fire for making rude and swearing remarks during a live broadcast.
During the broadcast, Heechul appeared to be very drunk and cursed a lot so he received a lot of negative responses from netizens. In addition, Heechul had discussed incidents of violence that Kangin (his former bandmate in Super Junior) had committed in the past and dragged ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo's name when discussing the topic of bullying in the school environment.
