Launching Star News March 6, 2023 global denim brand Levi's announced that they have chosen NewJeans as their newest Global Brand Ambassador. According to Levi's, the selection of NewJeans, which has become a Y2K icon for Millennials and Generation Z, was held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the brand's establishment.
In particular, a representative for Levi's said, "While celebrating the 150th anniversary of 501 (Levi's), we are preparing a meeting with NewJeans as a first step in bringing our brand identity to the Gen Z generation." Besides, they also intend to create special events with the group, "Because NewJeans has a trendy, free style and bright energy, we plan to create various exciting shows and works with them as our ambassadors."
In response, NewJeans said, "We are honored and delighted to be partnering with Levi's, the timeless brand that represents the world's most iconic jeans." They added, "Their sincere support for youth culture and their 150-year history prompted us to carry out this collaboration." Meanwhile, the group name "NewJeans" itself was inspired by jeans, a fashionable garment that has always existed in every era, so it is liked by all age groups.
With what NewJeans and Levi's have in common, the group is expected to become a timeless icon of a new era that pursues timelessness without going out of style. As well as announcing NewJeans as their newest brand ambassador, Levi's is currently understood to be preparing for a live show with NewJeans in Seoul to commemorate "501 Day" when the patent for rivet jeans was granted on May 20, 1873.
NewJeans' popularity has skyrocketed since their debut in August last year through their first mini album, "New Jeans." Unexpectedly, the girl group continues to make historic achievements with their latest songs "OMG" and "Ditto." Apart from Levi's, NewJeans itself has been trusted as the face of various well-known brands such as Nike, McDonald's Korea, SK Telecom and many more.
