In 2019, Netflix released a short anthology film from several different directors titled Persona starring IU. At that time, it was planned that the Persona project would continue by featuring different actresses. Persona 2 cast Sulli as the main character. Unfortunately, the shooting of Persona 2 had to be stopped at that time due to the death of the former f(x) actress.
Now there is news that Netflix is preparing for the release of Persona 2. This news stems from the appearance of Persona 2 in the list of shows that will be coming to Netflix Brasil which was uploaded to social media. In the circulating upload, it is stated that Persona 2 will air on Netflix starting June 16, 2023. Regarding the veracity of this news, Netflix has issued an official statement.
"Persona: Sulli is a project produced by Mystic Story. Currently, discussions regarding the screening of this project on Netflix are ongoing along with its final release," they commented in a statement. Director Hwang Soo Ah finished shooting Persona 2 as of October 23, 2019. Filming was then stopped following the news of Sulli's death.
The film that has been completed by Sulli from director Hwang Soo Ah has an interesting premise, just like the films in Persona played by IU. This short film is said to tell about the unusual resemblance between the main character and a pig. At that time there was talk of recruiting other actresses to continue the Persona 2 project.
However, the last statement from Mystic Story at that time was that they were considering other possibilities. With the addition of Persona: Sulli to the list to be broadcast on Netflix, fans are certainly happy to be able to see the K-Pop star's latest work. Although at this time the broadcasting discourse also raises pros and cons on social media.
Before debuting as a member of f(x) under SM Entertainment, Sulli started her career in the South Korean entertainment world as a child actress. His first appearance was in SBS's Korean drama project in 2005 entitled Ballad of Seodong. He then starred in the drama To the Beautiful You with SHINee's Minho and Kang Ha Neul to appear in the film Fashion King.
