Recently, NewJeans' Danielle from was chosen to be the dub or voice actor for ' The Little Mermaid ' from South Korea. Danielle's election has received mixed responses since the news was spread. The decision was initially criticized for his reportedly inaccurate Korean pronunciation as well as his lack of experience in voice acting.

However, when the music video for "Part Of Your World" was released, things turned around. Netizens looked happy and more praised Danielle for her singing and visual angelic skills. Even so, it seems that Western critics still have doubts about the choice of Danielle to be the voice actor in the film.

Launching from Koreaboo on Sunday May 28, 2023, many western critics and journalists claim that Danielle's participation in the film is a form of colorism. While most non-Korean audiences will probably never watch the Korean version of the film, in fact western critics considered Danielle's casting to be a "color show".

Despite the reaction on social media which was flooded with K-Pop fans excited to recognize Danielle's talent. However, as was the case on the Internet, some users continued to criticize Danielle's choice of voice actor because they believed it was a case of 'colorism', namely discrimination based on skin color.

Seeing the commotion caused by the election of Danielle as a voice actor, Korean netizens finally opened their voices. They countered and claimed that anyone looking for a black woman who voices in Korean and has adequate acting and singing skills is nearly impossible.

"They probably chose Danielle for voiceover because she is good at English. Why are they mad about this?" Write one K-Netz. "They don't criticize the pronunciation but this? It's not like Danielle is re-dubbing in English, and she's dubbing in Korean, so why are they criticizing this?" Comments from other netizens.

"Do you think there are black voice actors or celebrities in our country who are good at Korean and can sing?" wrote one K-Netz. "Just because they are a multi-racial country, they must think that Korea too… Korea is mostly made up of Asians, so why are they acting up?" Said another K-netz.

"Indeed, it would be difficult to find certain actors or celebrities in South Korea alone, where the majority are Korean. With Danielle, who is half Korean, even being criticized for her slightly lacking pronunciation, it will be difficult to find black actors who can live up to the language standard. in voicing." Added another netizen.
