One of the members of the BIGBANG boy group, namely G-Dragon, has recently been excited about being discussed by the public and fans, regarding his status which is no longer a YG Entertainment artist. G-Dragon reportedly officially left YG Entertainment after fans discovered his name was no longer written in the list of artists under the auspices of the YG Entertainment agency.
Responding to this news, YG Entertainment finally spoke up and provided an explanation regarding G-Dragon's status. Quoting from Allkpop on Tuesday (6/6/2023), previously YG Entertainment said that G-Dragon's absence from the list of artist names under their auspices occurred due to a system error.
However, on June 6, 2023, media outlets confirmed that G-Dragon's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment had ended. Responding to the new report, a representative from YG Entertainment said, "It's true that G-Dragon's exclusive contract has expired. We are currently conducting discussions and discussing various possibilities including a partial contract for his activities in the advertising field."
They continued, "If the artist wishes to continue his career in music in the future, we plan to discuss a new contract with him. We will always give him our full support." Based on the response from YG Entertainment, the agency has high confidence that G-Dragon will not leave the agency that has raised his name, and are looking for opportunities at other agencies.
G-Dragon's contract renewal plan with YG Entertainment also depends on the artist's decision whether he will return to music activities in the future. Hearing the news of the end of G-Dragon's contract with YG Entertainment, fans gave mixed opinions. They claim G-Dragon has a big enough name to set up his own agency and focus on whatever he wants to do.
If the idol wants to stay with YG Entertainment, they will also continue to provide full support. Apart from G-Dragon, other BIGBANG members such as Taeyang and Daesung have also officially left YG Entertainment, even though Taeyang moved not far, namely to The Black Label agency. Even though they are no longer with YG Entertainment, they are still a part of BIGBANG.
