EXO has been confirmed to be holding a comeback on July 10, 2023. This was revealed directly by SM Entertainment as their agency. This year, EXO will be making a full member comeback. Despite being enlisted in the military, Kai reportedly continued to participate in the music video for EXO's comeback to comfort fans' hearts due to the sudden announcement of his military enlistment.
Reporting from KBIZoom on Friday June 9, 2023, according to a report from Star News, Kai continues to participate in the music video of the additional song on EXO's latest album. He had finished filming early for the video with EXO members before enlisting in the military on May 11. Therefore, fans will still be able to enjoy the music video featuring EXO as an 8-member group. Apart from that, Kai also recorded songs on this latest album.
Earlier this year, EXO announced their comeback with a full line-up to celebrate their 11th debut anniversary. They have prepared a full album to mark EXO's comeback after a long hiatus caused by several members having to complete their mandatory military service. EXO members have prepared great efforts for this comeback.
They shot a music video not only for the title song, but also the B-side songs on the new album. Although Kai was unable to participate in the music video shooting for the title song which took place on June 2, fans will still feel his presence through his voice and also through the music videos for other songs.
Previously, many fans suspected that EXO's comeback would be postponed, considering that currently three EXO members namely Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin are currently in dispute with SM Entertainment and are undergoing legal proceedings for wanting to end their contracts. However, even though the legal process is currently ongoing, SM Entertainment has not postponed EXO's comeback schedule.
Both EXO and SM Entertainment agreed that EXO will continue activities as previously scheduled. Apart from making a comeback with a new album, EXO has also been confirmed to be carrying out filming activities for their latest reality show. On June 8, the seven EXO members were seen at Gimpo International Airport heading to the filming location.
