A woman in Brazil reportedly managed to escape a mugging thanks to BTS' Jin. On Tuesday July 18, 2023 local time, Brazilian media RIC Mais reported that a 21-year-old woman named Natali Vitoria Ramos Reis who lives in Paraná State, Brazil, almost became a victim of mugging while at a bus stop.

Natali said she was at a bus stop in São José dos Pinhais, in the Curitiba Metropolitan area, when she was approached by the perpetrator. According to the media, Natali put a photo of BTS' Jin wearing a military uniform on his cell phone case. Jin is currently still actively carrying out his mandatory military duties.

"A mugger approached me at the bus stop and took my cellphone. After seeing the photo on the back of my cellphone, which was a photo of Jin in a military uniform, the thief seemed to think my boyfriend was a soldier," recalled Natalie as quoted by KBIZoom on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Natali added that the thief then returned his cellphone and just ran away.

Meanwhile, Jin enlisted in the military last December and is currently serving as an instructor at the 5th Infantry Division's training camp in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province. It was recently revealed that Jin was promoted to corporal two months early after becoming a special class soldier with the title of elite soldier.

Elite soldier is an honorary title given to soldiers who have outstanding performance in seven types of training in the military. The corporal promotion was originally scheduled to take place in September.  However, Jin's good performance in the military camp earned him the promotion early. Jin is the first BTS member to enter military service.

His groupmate, J-Hope, is also currently serving as an assistant instructor at the 36th Infantry Division's training camp in Wonju, Gangwon Province. Jin's mandatory military service is scheduled to end in June 2024. Meanwhile, it was rumored that the other five BTS members, namely RM, Jimin, V, Suga and Jungkook, would also follow for military service.
