(G)I-DLE's Shuhua added to the list of celebrities who took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge. On Sunday Sunday July 16, 2023, Shuhua made a post via his official Instagram account. "Hello, this is (G) I-DLE. I have been nominated by member Soyeon to participate in the 2023 Ice Bucket Challenge.

I am really happy to be able to join this meaningful challenge," Shuhua wrote in his upload as quoted from KBIZoom on July 16, 2023. She continued, "We ask for your support and concern so that we can greatly contribute to the establishment of the first ALS treatment hospital in South Korea. I sincerely support the health and happiness of all ALS patients and their families.

Thank you." In the upload, Shuhua distributed a donation certificate worth 10 million won (around 7,922 United States Dollar) in his name. Previously, (G)I-DLE's Soyeon had posted a video of her participation in the Ice Bucket Challenge on her Instagram on the 15th and nominated Shuhua, Woo Won Jae, and Shin Soo Bin.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is a relay donation campaign aimed at helping patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. If their name is nominated, entrants must pour ice water on themselves or make a donation, then they must nominate the next three challengers to continue the challenge within 24 hours.

ALS is a neurological disorder that attacks the brain and spinal cord that control motor nerves. Over time, the nerves will be further damaged so that ALS sufferers can lose muscle strength, ability to speak, causing paralysis. This ALS disease became famous in 2014 through the Ice Bucket Challenge.

At that time, the challenge was created to raise research funds for the disease. Now, South Korean celebrities are again taking similar actions to help patients. On July 10, 2023, Sean of group Jinusean started the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for building the first medical hospital for Lou Gehrig's patients in Korea.

The challenge was then joined by several well-known South Korean celebrities, including IU, Park Bo Gum, Mimi from Oh My Girl, Lee Joo Young, Lee Young Ji, and Song Hye Kyo who participated in the challenge, showing their support for this humanitarian action.
