The name aespa's Winter recently became a public conversation after it was reported that the musician was receiving death threats from an anonymous person in an online community. The threatening actor wrote an article entitled "I will stab and kill aespa's Winter, who is leaving the country on the 8th, armed with a gun."

Responding to the news circulating, dozens of police officers were deployed to escort the departure of the music group aespa who was about to fly to Los Angeles to attend the American music festival 'Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival' at Incheon International Airport on August 8.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment as the agency that oversees Aespa immediately raised his voice regarding this dangerous threat. Reporting from a Naver report on Tuesday August 8, 2023, SM Entertainment is said to have taken legal action by cooperating with the police to investigate the perpetrators behind the stabbing threat to aespa's Winter.

"Posts that threaten Winter's safety were posted on the community platform yesterday. After confirmation, we filed an official lawsuit against the poster with the police and asked for immediate investigative cooperation," wrote SM Entertainment, quoted from Naver.

"We have strengthened security personnel, and even when leaving aespa today, we left the country safely with the cooperation of security personnel and airport police," he said. "We will continue to do our best to protect the safety of our artists," concluded SM Entertainment in its statement.

Recently stabbing cases are on the rise in South Korea. Online death threats started appearing after the July 21, 2023, murder incident at Sillim Station, and immediately spread across the country. Since Tuesday, August 8,2023 there have been 54 netizens who are known to have written threats in various online communities.

According to a Naver report, most of the perpetrators were minors who claimed to be "just kidding". The National Police Headquarters asked the South Korean Ministry of Education and other related agencies to actively guide children and youth at school and at home so they don't write criminal threats in cyberspace carelessly.
