Competition for rookie boy groups in K-Pop this year is quite fierce, but RIIZE seems confident to be one of the standouts. This can be seen from the sales figures for their first single album, Get A Guitar, which reached 1 million copies. RIIZE released the single album Get A Guitar on September 4, 2023.
This album only contains two songs, including the mainstay song with the same title as the album and a b-side track entitled Memories. In the first week of album sales, RIIZE has made history in the SM Entertainment group. They have now officially become a rookie boy band with the 'million seller' label thanks to sales of the album Get A Guitar.
Quoted from the Hanteo Chart, during the first week of sales of the Get A Guitar album on September 4 - 10, 2023, the RIIZE album reached sales of 1,016,849 copies. Entering this second week, sales figures are predicted to continue to increase. RIIZE became the first non-survival show K-Pop boyband to break the sales mark of 1 million copies for their debut album.
Previously, ZEROBASEONE, a graduate of Boys Planet, had already reached the sales mark of 1 million copies for his debut album alone. For RIIZE, SM Entertainment has formalized a collaboration with RCA Records, an American music label under Sony Music Entertainment. This label is the second oldest music label in the United States.
Some popular musicians under this label include Doja Cat, Justin Timberlake, Khalid, P!INK, SZA, and many more. With this collaboration between SM Entertainment and RCA Records, it is hoped that RIIZE can expand their market to the United States. This single album will later be released specifically in the local market there.
The lyrics of RIIZE's debut song, Get A Guitar, describe RIIZE members coming together and understanding each other through music. Apart from being an illustration of the process of forming RIIZE as a team, this song also provides a message about pursuing and realizing dreams.
The vocals of Anton, Wonbin, Zhotaro, Sungchan, Seunghan, Eunseok, and Sohee combine in harmony in the low notes. There are no rap lyrics like in the song Memories, making Get A Guitar a very different song. When this song ends, it feels like you want to hear more songs from RIIZE.
