BTS' V first solo album entitled " Layover " was finally released on Friday September 8, 2023. V will release his solo album on domestic and global music sites at 1 pm local time. Although V has proven his musicality through solo songs on BTS albums, self-composed songs released as free music, and drama OSTs, this is the first album launched under his name as a solo artist.
The album title “Layover” means “transfer”. This title conveys the message that it is time to take a break and look back at the past to determine the ultimate goal. Through this album, V wants to reveal a new side that he has never shown since his debut.
Quoted from KBIZoom on Friday September 8, 2023, expressing his feelings ahead of the album release, V said, “The other members completed their solo activities very successfully, so it was even harder to be the last person to make a solo debut. However, I will show you all that I prepared bit by bit.”
He continued, “This is an album that contains my charms as Kim Tae Hyung, an ordinary person. I can say this album is different, surprising, and reassuring.” Carrying the pop R&B genre, "Layover" contains V's characteristics and emotions.
This album has a total of six songs, namely the title song "Slow Dancing", pre-release songs "Rainy Days", Love Me Again", "Blue", "For Us and the bonus track “Slow Dancing (Piano Ver.)”. In particular, Min Hee Jin, CEO and executive producer of ADOR, participated in all stages of the production, including music, choreography, design and promotion.
Producer Min Hee Jin tried to combine V's simple and natural charm with his music to complete the album which focuses on “V” and “Music”. V produced a total of five music videos for his solo debut, and had released the music videos for “Rainy Days” and “Love Me Again” prior to the album's release.
The “Love Me Again” MV features a mysterious vibe highlighted by V's dreamy tone of voice, while the “Rainy Days” MV shows V's normal days. A teaser for “Blue” with black-and-white scenes has also been released. V's serious appearance in the video increases fans' expectations for the full version.
At midnight on the 8th, V unveiled the teaser for the title track “Slow Dancing” which was filmed on a beach in Spain. V has aroused fans' interest in his solo album by introducing 102 concept photos and various YouTube contents. He is expected to appear on domestic music shows and perform the song "Slow Dancing".
