In mid-September, JYP Entertainment management announced ITZY's Lia was on temporary hiatus due to experiencing anxiety. Two months later, apparently Lia's condition has not improved. In its latest official statement, JYP Entertainment announced a decision. Lia will continue to rest until she completely recovers and will not have any activities with ITZY for a while.
ITZY is currently in the process of producing a new album which is planned for release in January 2024. After that, they also plan to announce a world tour as part of the album's promotion. Unfortunately Lia will not be able to participate in the recording and production process of ITZY's comeback.
It was also decided that Lia would not take part in next year's world tour. "After discussions with Lia and the members, it has been decided that Lia will be absent from the production of ITZY's new album in January 2024 and also their world tour, to focus on recovering her health," said management seen on Saturday November 18, 2023.
Of course there are fans who feel disappointed with this decision. However, JYP Entertainment and Lia have a special gift for them, namely a song called Blossom. Blossom is a solo track sung by Lia which is planned to be included in ITZY's new album later. Management chose to release this song first as a form of entertainment for Lia's fans.
On the other hand, Lia also wrote a letter to fans via her personal Instagram. She explained again personally what management had said in their official statement, as well as the meaning of the song Blossom that was released. "This song contains sincere feelings that I want to convey to fans," said Lia. At the end, Lia promised to return in a healthier condition.
