NCT's Doyoung's appearance in the latest McDonald's Korea advertisement became controversial. The Kpop idol under SM Entertainment became a model for a charity edition burger but received criticism.

Shortly after it was announced, Doyoung immediately received various criticisms because he was seen as promoting a brand that supports Israel.  The war between Israel and Palestine has also become a concern among KPop fans in Indonesia.

Recently, many artists have been in the spotlight for consuming or promoting brands that are said to support the genocide in Gaza. NCT's Doyoung was also criticized for accepting an 'endorsement' offer from McDonald's which claimed to fund the Israeli army.

In his post on Instagram, Doyoung was seen sharing photos of burgers and snowmen wearing bucket hats from the fast food brand. The post was shared after Christmas Day where many netizens found it offensive, especially after the church attack in Gaza.

The choice of NCT 127's Doyoung as a McDonalds model immediately drew calls for a boycott from netizens. Many KPop fans are calling for a movement to unfollow the 27-year-old man and not pay attention to his advertisements.

When this news was made, Doyoung's followers on Instagram had dropped by more than 600 thousand. On various social media, many fans admitted that they did this because they were disappointed with their decision to accept the advertisement.

Some only 'abandoned' Doyoung temporarily during his advertising period to show the agency the urgency of the genocide issue in Palestine. Apart from unfollowing, netizens also left campaign messages on Doyoung's Instagram account.

Not a few expressed their disappointment and even compared the singer of 'Like A Star' to an Israel supporter. On Twitter, his name has been trending for several days. Many people criticized Doyoung's involvement in the burger advertisement and also received defense from a number of fans.

As an artist under an agency, the idol is considered not always able to make full decisions. The call is not to blaspheme and threaten actor Gong Myung's younger brother excessively apart from educating him about the pro-Israel brand boycott movement. This problem is still a hot issue among KPop fans.

The large number of netizens who express their disappointment in excessive ways has also made a number of fans worry about their safety. Doyoung himself is scheduled to hold 'The Unity' concert in Jakarta on January 13-14 with NCT 127. Until now, both Doyoung and SM Entertainment have not provided a statement.
