Actress Han So Hee is once again the topic of conversation among netizens, regarding her latest post on Instagram. The actress was accused of being ' anti-Japanese ' on her personal Instagram account, after uploading an image of a South Korean independence activist .
Quoting from Allkpop on Tuesday December 26, 2023, a number of netizens on online community forums realized that there were many negative comments flooding Han So Hee's post about Ahn Jung Geun. Ahn Jung Geun was a Korean independence activist who was executed by the Japanese government.
In her upload, Han So Hee wrote the following caption. “Not the romance of Kyungsung (Korean district under Japanese rule, now Seoul), not the creatures of the Japanese colonial era, but the story of people facing monsters born from experiments to manipulate humans.
A bright and dark time, the spring of the year, when people must embrace each other through love to become stronger," wrote Han Sho Hee. Ahn Jung Geun is remembered for assassinating Japanese politician It Hirobumi in 1909 and was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for the National Foundation for his martyrdom in South Korea.
Responding to the upload, a number of Japanese fans left scathing comments and labeled Han So Hee as 'Anti-Japanese'. “ Uploading photos without considering the feelings of the Japanese people. I thought Han So Hee wasn't that kind of person, but I was disappointed ," said one fan.
“ It's really hard not to call it 'Anti-Japanese' after seeing this post. What a shame ," said another fan. " Ahn Jung Geun is a terrorist, I won't be a fan of Han So Hee anymore, " said another fan. " Uploading a photo of a terrorist without looking at the context of the drama is the same as 'Anti-Japanese', " said one fan.
Even so, South Korean netizens gave their support to Han So Hee for explaining the history of South Korea's colonial past under Japanese rule and the actions of the independence activists. A number of fans in South Korea also admitted that they felt proud of Han So Hee's courage.
Meanwhile, Han So Hee is currently appearing in the Korean drama 'Gyeongseong Creature' with actor Park Seo Joon. Season 1 of the drama has been released on Video streaming service Netflix starting on Friday December 22, 2023.
