Actor Cillian Murphy won his first win at the 2024 Oscars in the Best Actor category thanks to his role in the film Oppenheimer. The victory was announced at the top of the Oscar night which was held at the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles on Sunday March 10, 2024 local time.

Cillian Murphy achieved this achievement after the actor received this nomination for the first time in his career. "Thank you to The Academy. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, this has been the craziest journey in 20 years," said Cillian Murphy in his victory speech, quoted on Monday March 11, 2024.

"Every Oppenheimer team and cast, all the nominees, I am in awe of all of you... I dedicate this win to those who create peace everywhere," he continued. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor after playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer in 2023.
