Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr finally broke his egg to win his first Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor Oscar 2024 category thanks to his role as Lewis Strauss in the film Oppenheimer. Previously, the actor first received an Oscar nomination in 1993 for the film Chaplin. 

He managed to get a nomination in the prestigious Best Actor category. Then, Robert Downey Jr. received another Oscar nomination after his role in Tropic Thunder in 2009 for Best Supporting Actor. During his journey, Robert Downey Jr finally won an Oscar in 2024 thanks to Oppenheimer. 

Through his victory speech, Robert Downey Jr did not fail to thank his wife, Susan Levin. He has been married to Levin since 2005. "Thank you to my beloved wife, Susan. She found me and gave birth to me again," said Robert Downey Jr. 

on stage, quoted by Variety on Monday March 11, 2024. His speech referred to the dark moments of Robert Downey Jr, who was addicted to drugs and experienced a career downturn in the 2000s. He then broke into Hollywood films again in his role as Iron Man in 2008. 

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer's film managed to become the film with the most nominations at the 2024 Oscars after winning 13 nominations. Robert Downey Jr's win was Oppenheimer's first Oscar.  

Apart from Best Supporting Actor, Oppenheimer was also nominated for a number of prestigious nominations, such as Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actress for Emily Blunt, Best Picture, and Best Adapted Screenplay. 

In the Best Picture category, this film directed by Christopher Nolan competes with other films, including Barbie, Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, and Poor Things. Poor Things itself managed to occupy second place with the most nominations at the 2024 Oscars after winning 11 categories, including Best Picture and Best Director. 

This achievement that Robert Downey Jr received through Oppenheimer officially completes a series of prestigious trophies that the 58 year old actor has won, including the BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards 2024 and Critics Choice Awards.
