Actress Park Ju Hyun recently revealed how she got into character while starring in her latest Korean drama titled ' Perfect Family '. Carrying the mystery thriller genre, 'Perfect Family' tells the story of a family that seems happy and perfect, but begins to suspect each other when their daughter is involved in a murder case.
In this drama, Park Ju Hyun plays Choi Sun Hee, a model student who ranks first in her school, while Kim Byung Chul and Yoon Se Ah will play her adoptive parents. Park Ju Hyun also explained the reason why she was so interested in the role of Choi Sun Hee.
"Unlike other characters I've played so far, Sun Hee's character has a passive side. So I really wanted to take on the challenge of playing her no matter what," Park Ju Hyun was quoted as saying by Soompi on Sunday July 28, 2024.
He added, “Sun Hee is a very kind and honest girl. She is also a girl who has no choice but to be that way. However, she is also a character who changes and grows because of the people and events around her.” Next, Park Ju Hyun revealed her efforts to make Choi Sun Hee's perspective acceptable to the audience.
“A passive character can sometimes seem frustrating or unlikable, so I tried to portray her emotions as deeply as possible,” said Park Ju Hyun. He added, "I tried to focus on Sun Hee's inner cries deep inside her heart.
I spent a lot of time pondering why she built a wall around her heart, what it would be like to live like that, and whether Sun Hee is truly happy." The actress further said that her personality tends to be easygoing, so she tried to restrain herself from playing the character of Choi Sun Hee who is the complete opposite of her.
“I thought about what kind of emotions Sun Hee, who appears strong but is actually weak inside, would experience while going through this incident, and I focused on her situation while acting,” said the actress who was born on October 5, 1994.
According to Park Ju Hyun, there was a difference between the Choi Sun Hee that the director had imagined and the Sun Hee that she had in mind. However, over time, they came to an agreement in interpreting the character of Choi Sun Hee.
"I ended up playing a role that was very different from the characters I've played so far. I was very happy and had a lot of fun filming, and I hope the audience will also have fun watching the drama," he concluded. Meanwhile, 'Perfect Family' will premiere on August 14, 2024, every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 p.m. KST.
