On Wednesday July 17, 2024, Mnet announced that SHINee's Taemin will be the sole MC for the idol survival program ' Road to Kingdom ', the latest season this year. Quoting from Naver, this year's latest season of 'Road to Kingdom' will be different from previous seasons. Previously, this program was aired like a prequel to get tickets to the sequel program 'Kingdom'.
This time, Mnet plans to separate the 'Road to Kingdom' program as an independent program under the concept of 'K-Pop Boy Group Rising Project' which will highlight and provide a stage for a number of talented boy groups with the potential to shine in the future. The lineup for this year's 'Road to Kingdom' will feature 7 boy group teams, including a unique mixed team.
Among them are The New Six (TNX), The Crew One (a combined team of ATBO and Just B), 8TURN, ONEUS, YOUNITE, Cravity, and Tempest. With Taemin as the main MC, the anticipation of both local and global fans will increase for this season's 'Road to Kingdom' program. This is Taemin's first appearance as a solo MC for an idol survival program.
The production team of 'Road To Kingdom' said that there was no better choice than Taemin, an idol figure who can be a senior and a role model for his juniors. "There is no other candidate who is suitable for the MC position. As a senior and role model for his juniors, Taemin has a lot of experience to share with the participants," said the 'Road to Kingdom' production team.
SHINee's Taemin is not only known as the main dancer in his group, but is also known as a solo singer who has an extraordinary stage act. Debuting at the age of 14 in 2008, Taemin has shone as one of the K-Pop idols who has had a successful career both as a boy group member and a solo singer.
Debuting as a solo singer in 2014, Taemin successfully produced a number of hits such as 'Move', 'Danger', 'Want', and 'Guilty' which have iconic appearances and styles for each choreography movement. Meanwhile, the latest season of Mnet's idol survival program 'Road to Kingdom' will premiere in September this year.
