BTS's Suga speaks out after being reported in a drunk driving scooter incident that occurred on Tuesday August 6, 2024. The musician, whose full name is Min Yoon-gi, was caught violating traffic regulations because he was driving an electric scooter while drunk.
Through the latest upload on the Weverse community platform on Wednesday August 7, 2024 morning, Suga released an apology and explained the incident that happened to him. "Hello, this is Suga. I come with a heavy heart and regret to you (via Weverse) because of the disappointing event," Suga wrote.
"Last night after drinking at dinner, I rode my electric scooter home. I violated the road traffic rules without realizing that I am not allowed to use an electric scooter while drunk because I thought it was a short distance." Suga also said that he fell while parking his electric scooter in front of his house.
As a result of the incident, a police officer approached him and conducted a breathalyzer test after smelling alcohol. Suga admitted that his driver's license had been revoked and he was also fined. "No one was hurt or facilities were damaged but, this is my unforgivable responsibility so I bow my head and apologize to everyone," he said.
"I apologize to those who were hurt due to my carelessness and wrong actions and from now onwards, I will be more careful with my actions so that nothing like this happens," concluded Suga. Previously, BIGHIT MUSIC as the agency that houses all BTS members has also apologized for the incident.
"Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We apologize for the accident involving BTS member Suga's electric scooter." "On Tuesday night (June 6, 2024), Suga rode an electric scooter while wearing a helmet while returning home after drinking alcohol.
After traveling about 500 meters, he fell while parking, and was given a ticket and driver's license was revoked as a result of a sobriety test by a police officer who was nearby," the agency wrote. The agency also stated that Suga will receive sanctions as a consequence of violating the regulations, because he currently still has to undergo military service as a social service worker.
"We apologize for the disappointment that this artist's inappropriate behavior has caused to all of you. As a social service worker, he will receive appropriate disciplinary action from his superiors for his behavior. We will be more careful to prevent this from happening in the future. Thank you," the agency concluded.
