Kang Daniel has successfully won the first trial for the criminal lawsuit he filed against YouTuber “Sojang”. This was announced by the artist’s agency ARA (Artistic Round Alliance), on Wednesday September 11, 2024.
The agency also confirmed that they plan to file a civil lawsuit against Sojang. Through this lawsuit, they plan to ask for compensation of 100 million Won from Sojang. The criminal lawsuit case filed by Kang Daniel himself has been ongoing since 2022.
At that time, the lawsuit was filed because Sojang was considered to have spread baseless false information and malicious rumors that damaged the artist's name. The ARA agency said that although the results of this trial had been predicted, they criticized it because it took two years for the sentence to be handed down.
The trial that took place today ultimately resulted in Sojang being fined 10 million Won. After winning the criminal lawsuit, ARA and Kang Daniel are now preparing to file a civil lawsuit worth 100 million Won.
The lawsuit is considered important to prevent innocent victims and similar incidents from happening again in the future. The agency also believes that defamation and profiteering from such actions must be punished through strong criminal and civil laws. This is because the wounds left by such behavior will not be easy to heal.
