BTS' Jin has recently been actively appearing on several variety programs to promote his first solo album, "HAPPY". Unfortunately, the oldest member of BTS has drawn controversy because of his attitude when appearing on several of these shows.
Where he raised his hand as if he was about to hit the person he was talking to when discussing military service. On an episode of "Leemujin Service," Jin was asked by host Lee Mujin about his life while serving in the military. "You just served in the military," Lee said.
Jin then asked whether Lee, who is 10 years his junior, had served his mandatory military service or not. Lee replied that he had not. Jin then joked by raising his hand as if he was going to hit Lee. Lee was surprised to see Jin's reflex movement.
The two ended up laughing together. However, it seems that Jin’s small gesture has much bigger implications. Netizens also noted that this is not the first time Jin has raised his hand while talking about the military.
Previously, Jin also did something similar when appearing on " The K-Star Next Door 4 ". At that time, Jin also joked with the host, Jonathan when they talked about the military. A post showing the video quickly garnered a lot of comments.
Some netizens commented that Jin's gesture was inappropriate, even though it was supposed to be a joke. " What's wrong with him? His hand went up first ," said a netizen. " I understand he was trying to joke, but it feels like it fell flat.
Even jokes need context. He hasn't built up a broadcast persona like Park Myungsoo, so raising his hand just because of a military comment feels weird. It's obvious Lee Mujin was shocked," said another. " What's wrong with him? " asked another.
However, other netizens remained firm on the fact that it was all just for fun. " Isn't it just a playful slap between guys? " commented another netizen. " Don't be so stiff, he was just joking around doing it. Look at the person he's talking to who's also laughing ," said another in defense.
