Ashley Nicolette Frangipane aka Halsey revealed the bad treatment she received from a music executive she said was very powerful. Her nude photos were accessed by the person without permission.
Halsey explained that the incident occurred several years ago, while she was out with the executive and two male managers. “I mean, I think it was a long time ago, but I was out with an executive, like a very powerful executive who works in music in some capacity.
It was just a celebration, and there was a lot of talk about the industry,” Halsey said while guesting on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. “I didn’t feel weird about it at all. I never felt unsafe or anything,” she continued.
Halsey explained that the two male managers had taken a photo with the executive and asked to send it so she could send it to her nephew. They handed him the phone and told him to send it to himself because they had to go to the bathroom.
“I saw him checking out my nude photos on my phone,” said Halsey, who admitted to being shocked when the incident occurred. “I just froze. I didn’t even know what to do. I was like, ‘Did I just imagine it? Was it an accident?’” she continued.
“I was like, ‘Did the phone just scroll up? What just happened?’ I was like, ‘Did he text himself and then delete the messages? I don’t even know where those messages are now.’” Halsey said the incident made her question her self-worth.
“And when that happened, in that moment, I was like, ‘You’re nothing. You’re nothing. You’re always going to be nothing. You’re still just the bitch who got taken advantage of, or like the guy who talked about you behind your back, or you’re like, collateral.’
I was like, ‘You’re nothing.’ It was so demoralizing for me.” The singer of "You Should Be Sad" admitted that there were several bad incidents he experienced while in the music industry, but these incidents left a deep impression because they weakened his spirit for life.
Halsey also reflected on the power dynamics in the music industry, saying, "I was in this exclusive space, thinking I had reached a level where I was protected, and then this invasive thing just happened," she said.
