Channel A's Korean drama Check in Hanyang has revealed the character of one of its main players, Bae In Hyuk. Ahead of its premiere, the actor shared the reasons for his character in the drama. Set in the Joseon era, the Korean drama Check in Hanyang is a drama about young men who become interns at Yongcheonlu, the most magnificent inn in all of Joseon.
In this drama, Bae In Hyuk plays Prince Lee Eun, the king's son who infiltrates Yongcheonlu to protect the royal family from the manipulative clutches of Yongcheonlu's owner, Cheon Bang Ju (Kim Eui Sung). Hiding his true identity under the alias Lee Eun Ho, he joins Yongcheonlu as a trainee.
Struggling to adapt to life outside the palace, Lee Eun creates a striking duality between his personalities as the serious and responsible Prince Lee Eun and the clumsy and awkward Lee Eun Ho. Explaining his decision to join the drama, Bae In Hyuk said, “The charm of his character, who has many sides, attracted me. I felt that Lee Eun Ho was someone I could learn a lot from,” as quoted by Soompi on Saturday December 14, 2024.
He also highlighted the drama’s appeal, saying, “The drama doesn’t center on a single event, but is full of various incidents, conflicts, and accidents, making it rich and entertaining.” Regarding his character, Bae In Hyuk describes Prince Lee Eun as a firm and determined person, someone who is disciplined and can control himself well.
Bae In Hyuk added, “On the contrary, Lee Eun Ho’s charm lies in his awkwardness and uniqueness, which comes from his unfamiliarity in speaking and doing actions that he has never done before.” Lastly, Bae In Hyuk revealed, “I think I will remember this project as one that allowed me to expand my acting range.
Through this drama, I hope to showcase more mature acting.” Check in Hanyang is his second Korean drama to air in 2024 after playing in The Story of Park's Marriage Contract. Previously, he was known for his prominent roles in Cheer Up, My Roommate is a Gumiho and many others. Meanwhile, the Korean drama Check in Hanyang will premiere on December 21, 2024 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
