Jang Nara was a guest star on Chae Jung An's YouTube channel on December 12, 2024. On that occasion, the actress born in 1981 revealed that she had suffered from a serious illness due to her reckless lifestyle while she was an idol.

The video shows Nara and Jung An discussing their shared experiences, specifically how they both debuted as actresses through sitcoms. Nara revealed, "I almost gave up on releasing an album because there wasn't much reaction to my music at first."

However, Nara's idol career started to improve back then. "My song 'Burying My Face in Tears' could have been buried for real. The title is important! However, after being selected for 'New Nonstop', my songs started to get airplay and my albums were revived," she recalled.

During her successful idol days, Nara suffered from a serious illness. "My physical strength was a mess. My liver levels were abnormal, and I had gastric ulcers and intestinal perforation. My health was completely destroyed because I lived recklessly," the actress added.

Responding to Nara's outpouring, Jung An admitted that she had once felt jealous of her colleague's success. "However, you became very popular. I was jealous when I saw you win the Teen Singer Award," said Jung An. Nara humbly replied that she was just lucky.

"Wherever I went, there were people who helped me. I was just grateful then. Even now, it's the same. There are so many people who are better than me, but the fact that I still get jobs is a blessing in itself," said the actress. The conversation between the two beautiful actresses then turned to their motivations for acting.

Jung An revealed times when she wanted to run away from her job. However, the actress found joy when starring in the drama "Coffee Prince". "In my twenties, working alone was scary, and I actually wanted to run away. However, when I starred in 'Coffee Prince' at the age of 31, I discovered the joy of collaboration. It felt reassuring," said Jung An.

Jang Nara then shared her own inspiration, "As a child, I was always exposed to acting because my father was a theater actor. Watching my father perform made me want to surpass him. In that sense, he is my hero. I follow everything he does." The actress gave a heartfelt insight into the roots of her acting dreams.
