Netflix officially announced the release of the famous Japanese series titled Alice in Borderland season 3 which is scheduled for 2025. The news was conveyed directly by Netflix through an official announcement on social media.
The streaming service also uploaded the first official photo of Alice in Borderland season 3 which features the three main players on a rooftop while looking at the Joker card flag. "You're not ready for the finale. Alice in Borderland Season 3. September 2025," Netflix tweeted on social media on Wednesday February 12, 2025.
The official Netflix Japan account also confirmed the news of the third season of Alice in Borderland which will continue the story from the ending of season 2. The second season of the series ended with the presence of the Joker card after Arisu and friends managed to survive Borderland.
However, there is still no information regarding the broadcast schedule for Alice in Borderland season 3. The premise of the third season and the trailer for the series have not been announced. The third season of Alice in Borderland itself was confirmed to be coming around nine months since the release of the second season of the series in December 2022.
Netflix as the production house reported the news by also confirming that Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will return as Arisu and Usagi in the latest season. Through their own social media, Alice in Borderland also displayed the Joker card as a teaser for the third season which is predicted to present an unexpected storyline.
Alice in Borderland season two ended with the surviving players choosing whether or not to stay in Borderland. The players who chose not to survive eventually woke up in the hospital. However, the ending of Alice in Borderland season 2 is the same as the manga version, including the presence of the Joker card at the end.
Therefore, if you follow the original work, all the main stories close with the appearance of the Joker. Alice in Borderland then continued in two spinoff manga entitled Alice on Border Road and Alice in Borderland: Retry. So there is no confirmation regarding the manga being adapted or being the main material in the story in the third season of Alice in Borderland.
