B1A4's Jinyoung underwent an interview with local media on February 27, 2025. On that occasion, the actor born in 1991 discussed his experience starring in the film "You Are the Apple of My Eye" acting alongside TWICE's Dahyun.
"You Are the Apple of My Eye" is a remake of the 2012 Taiwanese film of the same name. The film tells the story of Jinu (Jinyoung), a delinquent high school student who falls in love with his first love, Suna (Dahyun), and struggles to express his feelings.
"You Are the Apple of My Eye" marks Dahyun's big screen debut, and fans are eager to see how she will portray her character. Meanwhile, Jinyoung is making his big screen comeback after his 2019 film "Inside Me."
Since both stars come from idol backgrounds, Jinyoung was asked if they had met before. He confessed, "We've wondered, 'Have we ever said hello?' But honestly, we're not close at all." However, Jinyoung praised Dahyun's performance.
"I had imagined her as a neat and polite model student, which makes her a perfect fit for the role of Suna. She can be herself, and it will work perfectly," he praised. Jinyoung also admired Dahyun's dedication to acting. "She has great instincts.
When I think back to my first acting experience, I don't even remember how to do it. But Dahyun was fully prepared from the start, and I was really impressed," he said. One of the most talked about moments in "You Are the Apple of My Eye" was their kiss scene.
Since it was Dahyun's first on-screen kiss, she was understandably nervous. Jinyoung revealed, "Dahyun was very nervous, but I just filmed a same-sex kiss scene with actor Son Woo Hyun, so I was relaxed. I tried my best to make her feel comfortable."
Recalling his first kiss scene, Jinyoung shared, "I remember wondering, 'How can I do this?' I was really nervous. Even though it's part of the job, it's still awkward until you actually do it. So I told Dahyun, 'Once it's done, you'll be fine.'" Jinyoung was then asked if he was worried about how TWICE fans would react.
The actor admitted, "I was a little worried, but I'm sure Dahyun's fans will understand." Jinyoung even joked with Dahyun and said, "Will this get me in trouble?" However, Dahyun reassured him, replying, "Our fans are cool and really nice, so everything will be fine."
