Netflix's popular series, Squid Game 2, has successfully recorded a new achievement. The series successfully won the award for Best Foreign Language Series at the Critics Choice Awards. Quoting from Allkpop on Sunday February 9, 2025, the 30th Critics Choice Awards event was held on February 7, 2025 local time, in California, United States.
Squid Game 2 managed to beat other tough competitors for the Best Foreign Language Series category, such as the Pachinko 2 series and Citadel: Honey Bunny. Meanwhile, Squid Game 2 aired in December 2024 on the Netflix streaming platform, and immediately caught the attention of fans of the series to watch the continuation of the story from the first season.
In this 2nd season, Squid Game 2, tells the story of Gi Hoon's (Lee Jung Jae) journey as he plans to take revenge on The Front Man (Lee Byung Hun). Shortly after its airing, the series immediately dominated Netflix's global charts, and recorded a viewership figure of up to 1.5 billion within 3 weeks of airing. Squid Game 2 has become the most-watched sequel on Netflix.
Following the success of the first and second seasons, the Squid Game series has also announced the broadcast schedule for the 3rd season or the final season of the series which will air this year. According to the announced broadcast schedule, Squid Game 3 will greet fans starting June 27, 2025 via the global streaming platform Netflix.
The production team has also shared a number of still cuts from the latest season to increase the curiosity of fans of the series. On the other hand, the Critics Choice Awards is an awards event presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA). This year they gave the Best Picture award to Anora and the acting award to Demi Moore for her role in Subtance.
Adrien Brody also won an acting award for his performance in The Brutalist. Furthermore, the Shogun series managed to win 4 awards at once for the television drama category, including Best Drama and several acting awards for its cast Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, and Moeka Hoshi.
