Kim Seon Ho is opening up about love, romance, and how his real-life dating style has changed over the years. The South Korean actor sat down for an interview on January 22, 2026 to mark the release of Netflix’s romantic comedy series Can This Love Be Translated?, where he plays multilingual interpreter Joo Ho Jin.
Kim Seon Ho stars opposite Go Youn Jung, and following the show’s release, viewers jokingly dubbed the couple an “emotionally stable boyfriend” and an “anxious girlfriend,” sparking playful online reactions. Asked what he thought of a character like Cha Moo Hee, Kim said, “I didn’t see her as a crazy woman.
She has pain and a story, so I felt like she needed to be embraced.” He added, “I thought that was something Ho Jin could do. Ho Jin has his own wounds when it comes to love, so I really tried to approach her with empathy and not judge her from another perspective.”
So how does Kim Seon Ho approach dating in real life? “I actually thought a lot about this,” he said. “When I was younger, if someone liked me, I’d think, ‘Does that mean we should date?’ But now, I feel like I need a lot more time. If our interests don’t align, I can’t date someone at all.
It takes me a long time to even develop feelings.” He continued, “I think that changes as you get older. Conversation really matters. There are people who you can talk to easily, without trying, and just end up smiling the whole time.”
