Kim Soo Hyun is starting to be removed from brand advertisements due to the controversy that ensnared him. Now the actor's face is no longer seen in a number of advertisements. Recently, Kim Soo Hyun has been the talk of the town because at the age of 27, precisely in 2015, he was suspected of dating Kim Sae Ron who was still 15 years old.
Not only that, Kim Soo Hyun through the agency he founded, Gold Medalist, was also reported to have blackmailed and threatened Kim Sae Ron to pay compensation related to the project. One of the South Korean airlines then deleted all digital traces of Kim Soo Hyun that they ever had, as reported by Chosun Biz, on Wednesday March 12, 2025.
The actor has been a brand ambassador for Jeju Air since 2015. Initially, the actor was made a commercial star to target the Asian market so that Kim Soo Hyun's face was placed in all their advertisements, both online and offline videos, internal and external. Netizens believe that Kim Soo Hyun's face was removed because of his controversy.
Responding to what netizens believe, Jeju Air issued a denial. Jeju Air stated that the decision was not made because of Kim Soo Hyun's controversy. "We have blocked (access to) all videos of artists who appeared as commercial stars in the past, including Kim Soo Hyun, since the Muan Air incident in January 2025," said a Jeju Air representative.
"The unopening of the ad is not related to the actor's recent controversy," they continued to assert. In addition, Kim Soo Hyun worked as an advertising model for various brands, such as Homeplus, Shinhan Bank, Tous Les Jours, Dinto, Eider, Cuckoo, Prada, Joe Malone, and Shabu All Day.
Eider removed Kim Soo Hyun's appearance on its official website and social media, while Shabu All Day also removed all photos of Kim Soo Hyun on its official social media. Homeplus removed Kim Soo Hyun's photo from the app's loading screen. However, as reported by Yonhap news agency, they confirmed that there has been no change regarding the contract with Kim Soo Hyun.
