BTS's J-Hope officially makes a solo comeback by releasing a digital single titled "Sweet Dreams" on March 7, 2025. In addition to being busy domestically, the idol born in 1994 was also initially reported to have several work schedules in the United States.

However, J-Hope's work schedule in the United States was announced to be canceled. On March 11, 2025, BIGHIT MUSIC stated that J-Hope's scheduled appearance on US television had been canceled. The appearance was originally scheduled to air on March 13, 2025.

The agency announced, "The US promotions, which were scheduled to be released on March 13, 2025 after local filming, have been canceled due to unavoidable local circumstances. We will provide updates on future schedules. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Following this announcement, fans have been looking for an explanation of what BIGHIT MUSIC meant when they said that local circumstances were unavoidable. Apparently, they were referring to the ongoing protests in New York against the government’s unlawful detention of Mahmoud Khalil, an American citizen and Columbia University student.

DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detained Khalil for participating in a student camp last year in protest of Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians. Khalil, a US citizen with a green card, was arrested and faces deportation, despite not breaking any laws.

Opposition politicians condemned Khalil's arrest as unlawful, while ordinary citizens took to the streets to protest to demand his release. BIGHIT MUSIC's reason for canceling J-Hope's work schedule has garnered attention. Some have given their support because the agency prioritizes the safety of J-Hope and his crew.

However, many are also angry because BIGHIT MUSIC refuses to acknowledge the real situation. Fans criticized BIGHIT's decision not to include an actual reason in their post, which was in stark contrast to their mention of the LA wildfires in a similar cancellation notice they had previously posted.

However, some argued that the agency was trying to stay neutral and avoid political discourse in their announcement. " So you're willing to cite the Los Angeles fire as a reason for the delay, but not this? Wonder why? @HYBEOFFICIALtwt speak into the microphone [sic!]," one netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, J-Hope is currently busy with a series of solo concert tours titled "HOPE ON THE STAGE". The idol has several concert schedules in the United States from late March to early April. J-Hope will also greet fans in Jakarta on May 3-4, 2025.
