SEVENTEEN's Wonwoo has been confirmed to be carrying out his mandatory military service on April 3, 2025. The news of the Kpop idol's mandatory military service was conveyed by Pledis Entertainment as the agency that oversees SEVENTEEN.

The agency said that Wonwoo's military service activities meant that the idol would be unable to join in group activities starting in April 2025, such as the Tecate Pa'l Norte Festival and fan meetings in Japan.

"Hello. This is Pledis Entertainment. SEVENTEEN's Wonwoo will be enlisting in the military on April 3, 2025," Pledis wrote in an official announcement on social media, Wednesday March 5, 2025.

"Therefore, he will not be able to participate in any upcoming activities, including the 2025 Tecate Pa'l Norte music festival in April and the fan meeting in Japan," the agency continued. However, Wonwoo is still confirmed to be attending the CARATLAND event which will be held on March 20-21, 2025.

Meanwhile, fans who are familiarly called CARAT can also still watch Wonwoo's content with SEVENTEEN which has been recorded previously. Wonwoo's military enlistment was also confirmed to be without a ceremony or special event.

The agency asked fans not to visit the place where the idol began his service. "We ask CARATs to continue to love and support him so that Wonwoo can diligently complete his duties and return healthily," the agency said.

Wonwoo becomes the second SEVENTEEN member to officially enlist in the military. The musician, whose full name is Jeon Won-woo, follows in the footsteps of Jeonghan, who began his service in September 2024.

Meanwhile, S.Coups, as the oldest idol in SEVENTEEN and also the leader, was exempted from military service due to a history of knee injury he suffered in 2023. Wonwoo will serve 18-21 months in the military.

In South Korea, healthy men aged 18-28 are required to serve two years in the military according to the Military Service Act of 2020. Other SEVENTEEN members are also expected to follow Wonwoo and Jeonghan in the near future as they have fulfilled their military service requirements.

The members are Hoshi, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Meanwhile, Joshua, Jun, and The8 are not required to serve in the military because they are not Korean citizens.
