South Korean film 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' is set to air next month. Lotte Cultureworks released the first photos for the character Kim Dok Ja played by Ahn Hyo Seop.
Kim Dok Ja's appearance in these two photos is very different. In the first photo, he looks neat and clean, wearing a white shirt with a gray suit and tie.
Kim Dok Ja is seen waiting for the subway alone. Both of his hands are seen holding a cellphone, as if he just got some bad news. His gaze is a little empty in this photo.
In the second picture, Kim Dok Ja is still wearing the same clothes but in a dirtier condition. As if he had just finished fighting, his jacket was torn at the sleeves. His face also looks dirty and there is a scar on his cheekbone.
Here his appearance becomes more serious as if he is facing an enemy or opponent. "I tried to play Dok Ja as an ordinary person so that the audience can relate," said Ahn Hyo Seop in an official statement.
He also said that throughout the production process he always discussed with the writer and director, in order to get the most appropriate arc for his character's development.
Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is a film adaptation of a novel of the same name, telling the story of Kim Dok Ja who suddenly lives in a fantasy world of a novel that he really likes. Armed with his knowledge of the novel's story, she tries to save the world from destruction.
The South Korean film also stars Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, and Kwon Eun Sung. Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is scheduled to air in South Korean cinemas in July 2025.
