Korean drama 'The First Night with the Duke' premiered on Wednesday June 10, 2025. A number of Kpop fans have been waiting for the chemistry between 2PM boy group personnel, TaecYeon and SNSD girl group, Seohyun who are paired as the main characters.
A romantic comedy, the Korean drama The First Night with the Duke follows the story of a college student who possesses the body of her favorite romantic novel's supporting character, Sun Chaek (played by SNSD's Seohyun).
After waking up in the novel's world, she spends the night with the obsessed and persistently pursuing male lead, Yi Beon (played by 2PM's TaecYeon). The teaser for the Korean drama The First Night with the Duke opens with Sun Chaek after being possessed by the soul of a modern-day college student known only as "K."
She wonders, "Who am I?" before finally realizing that she has possessed the body of the youngest daughter of a powerful noble family in the Joseon era. Sun Chaek is blessed with status and wealth, but she does not have much of a narrative, becoming a "supplement" in the novel.
Even though K reminds herself not to interfere with the plot of her favorite romance novel, she can't help but kiss the male lead Yi Beon when she meets him. Yi Beon feels trapped and the kiss leads to a night spent together. After the incident, Yi Beon shows interest in Sun Chaek and pursues her.
Meanwhile, Sun Chaek realizes that the female lead is actually Jo Eun Ae (played by Kwon Han Sol). She tries hard to restore the storyline to its original state. However, Yi Beon tells Sun Chaek that seducing a member of the royal family and stealing her purity is an act of treason.
Yi Beon demands that they marry, which puts Sun Chaek in a difficult position. Yi Beon and Sun Chaek's meeting in the Korean drama The First Night with the Duke marks the beginning of a messy love story involving the other three main characters.
Jo Eun Ae, who was supposed to be Yi Beon's partner in the novel's storyline, tries to destroy Jung Soo Gyeom (played by Seo Bum June). Surprisingly, Jung Soo Gyeom confesses his feelings to Sun Chaek.
The villain in the novel, Do Hwa Seon (played by Chi Hae Won) also openly shows her obsession with Yi Beon. And after Yi Beon declared that he chose Sun Chaek as his partner, Hwa Seon no longer targeted her hatred towards Eun Ae but Sun Chaek.
The situation was made worse by Sun Chaek's father challenging her marriage to Yi Beon. With 12 episodes, The First Night with the Duke will air every Wednesday and Thursday at 21:50 KST on KBS2. The latest episodes can be watched legally with English subtitles on Viu.
