As one of the veteran actors in South Korea, Lee Jung Jae apparently only felt his career change after starring in the Squid Game series. Recently, he admitted that he had expected the series to be a turning point in his career. In this series, Lee Jung Jae plays Seong Gi Hun or Player 456.
He is the main character who plays the Squid Game until the third season. "Gi Hun was on an emotional rollercoaster in season one. When I read the scripts for seasons two and three, I knew he would be on another rollercoaster," Lee Jung Jae said, as reported by Metro.
“So I thought, 'Wow, if I play this character well, this will be a memorable role for me,” he continued. The first season of Squid Game ended with Gi Hun canceling his meeting with his son, and choosing to return to the game arena to find out who created the game.
Instead of finding answers, he is faced with various challenges that change his life. “When I read the final page for season three, it exceeded all the expectations I had,” said Lee Jung Jae.
“I was very surprised and I remember having many conversations with director Hwang Dong Hyuk about the ending,” said the 52-year-old actor. The third season of the Squid Game series marks the end of the series' journey, which has become one of the best-selling Korean series on Netflix.
