Choi Sooyoung and Kim Jae Young will star in the new drama 'Idol Eye'. The series is directed by Lee Kwang Young, who previously helmed Call It Love, and written by Kim Da Rin, who was praised for her fresh and creative script.
Idol Eye is a mysterious courtroom romance drama about Maeng Se Na (Sooyoung), a virtuous star lawyer and devoted fan, defending her favorite idol, Do Ra Ik (Kim Jae Young), after he is accused of murder.
Sooyoung plays Maeng Se Na, a top lawyer who is determined to prove her favorite idol, Do Ra Ik, innocent. Nicknamed the "criminal lawyer" for handling unpopular criminal cases and facing public criticism, he has secretly been a loyal fan of the band Gold Boys for 10 years.
When her idol is involved in a bizarre murder case, she hides her admiration, accepts his plea, and uncovers an unexpected truth. “Maybe it's because I understand the fans' feelings, but I couldn't stop reading the script from beginning to end,” Sooyoung was quoted as saying by Soompi.
"This is my first time playing a lawyer and a devoted fan, so I'm enjoying the contrasting sides of the character. I'm excited to show a new side of myself," he added. Kim Jae Young plays Do Ra Ik, the visual center and vocalist of Gold Boys, who becomes a murder suspect.
When the stage he once longed for no longer brings him joy and the love of his fans feels like a heavy burden, he hides his darkness behind his bright smile. After a murder case turns his life upside down, he throws off his mask and is reborn as someone who lives like there's no tomorrow.
"It's a drama with an interesting story and diverse genres, so I'm looking forward to it. I feel a little pressured, but I'm happy to be a part of it," said Kim Jae Young. "I'm excited to show so much through the character of the band's vocalist, Do Ra Ik," he added.
