South Korean actor Lee Dong Gun made a surprising confession. He revealed he was diagnosed with a rare inflammatory disease, ankylosing spondylitis. In the final episode of SBS's My Little Old Boy, Dong Gun surprised fans with his health condition.

He was seen arriving at the hospital with a very red right eye. Dong Gun came to see the doctor and explained his concerns. "The redness will be much more severe and [he will become] very sensitive to light," according to the report.

Lee Dong Gun admitted that his vision was impaired. As the condition worsened, he became sensitive to light, which worsened his vision. "When it's not too bad, my eyes are just red, and my focus is a little bit off.

When it's bad, the redness gets worse, and I become very sensitive to light. Looking at light is painful, and I feel like my vision is getting worse. After a year of having it, I've gotten used to it, but it was horrible at first," she said.

Doctors diagnosed Dong Gun with uveitis, a serious inflammation of the middle layer of the eye. This rare condition affects approximately 1% of South Koreans. X-rays showed Dong Gun's inflammation was in stage 2 to 3.

"You currently have uveitis. If the uveitis keeps recurring, it could be a type of rheumatic disease known as ankylosing spondylitis. This rare disease affects about 1% of the Korean population, causing the spine to gradually stiffen and fuse together.

Most ankylosing spondylitis patients experience uveitis as their first symptom," the doctor explained. "If your X-ray results are classified based on the stage of arthritis, your inflammation is around stage 2 to 3," he continued.

The doctor added that Lee Dong Gun must now maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, as there is currently no cure for the disease. "In your current condition, this disease could worsen. Because the cause is unknown and there is no cure, this condition must be managed for life," the doctor explained.
