Former NCT member Taeil, has again appealed his three-year and six-month prison sentence. He filed his appeal with the Supreme Court on October 24, 2025. He filed with legal counsel for a second hearing. Not only Taeil, but his two friends, who were also defendants, also filed appeals.
On October 17, 2025, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 11-3 sentenced Taeil, who was charged with rape, to three years and six months in prison. The Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes recorded the same sentence as the first trial.
The court also upheld an earlier ruling that required the three to complete 40 hours of sexual offender treatment and imposed a five-year work restriction on them from working in institutions dealing with children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.
The court also rejected the defendants' claim that they surrendered voluntarily and made it a mitigating factor for their prison sentences. Taeil was first arrested by the police for harassing a woman with two friends in June 2024. Initially, Taeil was only tried without being detained, but he received a verdict.
When the victim first reported the incident, Taeil was still active with the group NCT 127 and was still attending fan meetings to celebrate their debut. In a criminal case, an appeal must be filed within seven days of the verdict being rendered to receive a new sentence.
