Gigi Hadid Cries While Discussing Body Shaming at Victoria's Secret

American fashion model and TV personality, Gigi Hadid couldn't hold back tears as she recalled the painful experience of body shaming she experienced after her debut in the Victoria's Secret fashion show ten years ago. 

In a video shared on the lingerie brand's official Instagram, the 30-year-old model shared her emotional feelings ahead of her appearance in the 2025 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which will be held in New York on October 15, 2025.

Gigi Hadid recounted her struggles to reach the prestigious stage. She admitted to auditioning two or three times before finally being accepted into her first show in 2015. "So, you can imagine how happy I was at that time. 

I was really proud of the person I was then," she continued in a trembling voice. Gigi also recalled how she once faced immense pressure from the public who judged her body. Bella Hadid's older sister experienced body shaming early in her career.

"She (my past self) wanted it so badly. I look back at photos from that time, and the world was so harsh on her. Not just me, but on other girls too," the mother of one said with tears in her eyes. 

However, Hadid doesn't let negative comments get her down. She looks back on her past with pride. "Looking back, I realize, 'I was amazing back then.' It was a great time, and I deserved to be there," she said.

"I came back to this show with a sense of happiness for that girl, my old self, and also for my teenage self who used to dream of watching this show," she added. Gigi Hadid also expressed the nervousness she still feels every time she appears on the Victoria's Secret stage.

"I feel a huge responsibility to give my best to the entire team behind this show," she said. Back in 2015, after her Victoria's Secret runway debut, Hadid received a lot of negative comments about her body. 

However, in an interview with Vogue, she firmly responded to the criticism. "Yes, I'm athletic, but I love my body because I know what it's been through. I wouldn't change it for someone who's unhappy with their life," Gigi Hadid said.
