Actress Nicole Kidman wasn't always as confident with her appearance as she is now. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the Oscar-winning actress admitted that she used to hate her very fair skin tone and her above-average height.

"I used to hate my pale skin. It's still not my favorite thing," the Big Little Lies star said, as quoted by People on October 10, 2025. "But I started to appreciate it because it turned out so well on film.

So, I learned to use it as a strength," she added. Besides her skin color, the 58-year-old woman also talked about her height, which she is now grateful for, even though it used to make her feel awkward.

"There are no small genes in our family - we are all tall as giants," said Tom Cruise's ex-wife. Nicole and her sister are both around 180 cm tall. The Australian actress admits that her height was a factor in her insecurities during her youth.

"I used to lower my hips and pretend to look smaller," she recalls. Jokingly, she also mentioned that being a little shorter might help his film career. "It would be nice to be a little bit smaller and be able to look someone up from below," she said.

But as she grew older, Nicole learned to fully accept herself. For the actress, aging has brought invaluable maturity and wisdom. "I'm lucky because I'm tall. I also have a lot of room to eat, because my body can accommodate it," she said with a laugh.

Now, Nicole has finally overcome years of self-consciousness, and her so-called "giant" height has become her selling point as an actress. "Now, I square my shoulders, stand tall, and truly own it," she concluded.
