BTS has once again proven its dominance on the international music stage by earning three nominations at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs), including the most prestigious award, Artist of the Year.

BTS is listed as one of ten nominees for the Artist of the Year category, facing off against global superstars like Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, as announced by organizers on Tuesday May 19, 2026 (US time).

BTS's achievement is a major highlight, as they made history in 2021 as the first Korean artist to win this prestigious category. Now, with their latest nomination, BTS fans are eagerly anticipating whether they will win the award again.

In addition to Artist of the Year, BTS also received nominations in two other categories: Best Male K-pop Artist and Song of the Summer for this year's popular song "Swim."

US-based up-and-coming group Katseye, under HYBE, followed with three nominations, while the soundtrack to the globally popular Netflix animated series, K-pop Demon Hunters, also received two nominations.

Katseye is competing in the New Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Pop Artist, and Best Music Video categories for "Gnarly." Meanwhile, the K-pop soundtrack for Demon Hunters is competing for Best Soundtrack and Best Song with "Golden."

Besides BTS, there are three other K-pop groups competing for the Best Male K-pop Artist category, namely Ateez, Enhypen, and Stray Kids.

On the other hand, the Best Female K-pop Artist category is filled by aespa, BLACKPINK, ILLIT, Le Sserafim, and TWICE, which also demonstrates the quality of the best female K-pop groups today.

The 2026 American Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25, 2026, both on CBS and the streaming platform Paramount+. BTS and K-pop fans around the world are eagerly awaiting this historic moment.
