Tom Holland stole the show during his appearance on Hot Ones. It wasn't because the promotion for The Odyssey went smoothly, but because the actor vomited on set after completing the spicy chicken wing challenge with Jon Bernthal.
HuffPost reported on Saturday, July 25, 2026, that Holland appeared on the popular show hosted by Sean Evans alongside Bernthal. The episode was released on Thursday July 23, 2026.
Hot Ones is known as an interview show that challenges its guests to eat chicken wings of varying degrees of spiciness. In the episode, Holland and Bernthal go through 10 spicy chicken wings.
After the challenge was over, Holland posed for a photo with Bernthal and Evans. That's when the unexpected happened. Holland started coughing, then vomited on the floor. Bernthal, who was nearby, responded jokingly to the incident.
He put his arm around Holland and asked the crew to take a picture. “Come on! Come on! Take a picture! Come on,” said Bernthal. Holland didn't seem panicked either. He laughed and gave the crew permission to use the footage.
“You guys can wear that,” Holland said with a smile. “Nothing got on my clothes.” Bernthal then asked Evans if there had ever been a guest who vomited on the show before. “That was probably the first time that happened on a film set, ever,” Evans replied.
Holland chimed in with a joke. “I like being first,” he said. Holland provided further clarification on the incident while appearing on the NYT Cooking series alongside his The Odyssey co-star Matt Damon. He named milk as the main cause of the incident.
“Jon Bernthal and I were on Hot Ones a few days ago. I literally threw up on camera,” Holland said. "That's also pure milk. Because I drink milk all the time," he said. On the show, milk is commonly drunk to soothe the spiciness.
Holland said he drank too much. Damon admitted to having a similar experience, except he vomited off-camera. Evans said Holland's incident may have been the first vomiting incident to occur on the set of Hot Ones.
