Winwin has left NCT, WayV, and SM Entertainment. He decided not to renew his contract with the agency after his agreement expired on July 9th. This news received mixed responses from fans.
To alleviate the anxiety and emotions felt by NCTzens and WayZenNi, Winwin wrote a lengthy letter posted to social media. The SM artist, who debuted in 2016, reflected on his career with the agency, thanking his management and everyone he met during his time as an NCT member.
"From 2016 to 2026—10 years have passed so quickly. Looking back on the past decade, I wanted to write this letter from the bottom of my heart. From my early days as a trainee to my debut as a member of NCT 127 and then WayV, I am filled with gratitude for all the people I have met and the precious relationships I have made over the past 10 years," Winwin opened.
"Sometimes I look through old photos from years past, and each photo evokes countless memories and stories behind them. Of course, there were times when I was exhausted and days when I faced setbacks and difficulties. But more than that, what remains in my heart are the many moments filled with happiness, joy, and unforgettable emotions," he continued.
Winwin emphasized that every memory, no matter how small, is a valuable experience. The events of the past decade have been his greatest source of strength in pursuing his career in the entertainment industry. He also touched on how SM gave him the opportunity to debut as a member of NCT and WayV.
Thanks to SM, Winwin said, he's been able to stand on stages around the world and meet fans. "From the first time I stepped on stage as an SM artist until now, I know I wouldn't be the person I am today without those experiences. And I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet so many people who know, support, and love me.
These past ten years will remain one of the most precious chapters of my life for years to come," Winwin said sincerely. In closing, he thanked NCT's fans, NCTzen, and WayV's fans, WayZenNi, as well as all the fans who have followed his career for a decade.
Winwin hopes that everything that has passed over the past 10 years will remain a warm, beautiful, and unforgettable memory for everyone. He closed his letter with a promise to continue his career wholeheartedly. "Lastly, I want to say a huge thank you to Czennie, WayZenNi, and all the fans who have been by my side throughout this journey.
I hope this past decade will remain a warm, beautiful, and unforgettable memory for all of you. Moving forward, I will never forget the dream I had when I first started. I will continue to do my best with a steadfast heart and continue to grow into a better version of myself.
To everyone reading this letter, I wish you peace, happiness, and good fortune. I sincerely hope all your dreams come true," he concluded. Winwin was introduced as a member of SM Rookies 10 years ago alongside Kun. He then debuted as a member of NCT 127 with the track "Fire Truck" (2016).
Since then, Winwin has been active with NCT 127 in several comebacks, including their latest album, Regulate (2018). Winwin then re-debuted with NCT's subunit, WayV, in 2019. After several releases, he then took another path by entering the Chinese acting scene.
