Motorola launched the Edge 20 series in India last year 2021, consisting of three smartphones aimed at different price points. The top-of-the-line model was the Motorola Edge 20 Pro powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. The company has now launched a successor to this device called the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, and it uses the new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC which is amongst the most powerful SoCs currently available for Android smartphones.
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro comes with a 6.70-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The smartphone is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that features 1 core clocked at 3GHz, 3 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It comes with 8GB of RAM. The handset runs Android 12 and is powered by a 4800mAh battery. The device supports proprietary fast charging.
In terms of optics, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro on the rear packs a triple camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a pixel size of 2.0-micron; a 50-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 0.64-micron, and a 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.75-micron. The rear camera setup has phase detection autofocus. It has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring a 60-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.2-micron.
On the front software, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro is based on Android 12 OS out of the box and packs 128GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) mobile that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards. In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 163.06 x 75.95 x 8.79mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 196.00 grams.
For connectivity options, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, GPS, Bluetooth v5.20, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks) , and 5G. Sensors on the smartphone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The device was launched in Cosmos Blue and Stardust White colours.
