Chinese tech company, HONOR has announced Magic4 Ultimate as the latest addition to its Magic4 line-up of premium handsets in China. The smartphone will be available for purchase later this year at a price of CNY 8,000 (roughly Rs. 96,000). DXOMark has adjudged Magic4 Ultimate as the best camera smartphone ever, awarding it 146 points to beat previous leader Huawei P50 Pro by two points.
HONOR Magic4 Ultimate is based on the Magic4 Pro but boasts upgraded camera hardware to justify its 'Ultimate' tag. The device has beaten some heavyweights to top DXOMARK's camera tests and has hence, become a crucial product for the company which is trying to cement its place in the competitive market as it is no longer a part of Huawei.
The HONOR Magic4 Ultimate offers IP68 dust and water resistance, and features a 6.81-inch Full-HD+ (1312x2848 pixels) OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone has a pill-shaped cut-out on the top-left corner with curved screen edges and an under-display fingerprint sensor. On the rear, the ceramic body houses a massive, octagonal camera setup.
In terms of optics, the HONOR Magic4 Ultimate has a 50MP (f/1.6) primary sensor having a size of 1/1.12-inch along with a 64MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide sensor, a 64MP (f/3.5) periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP (f/2.0) Spectrum Enhanced camera. It also has a ToF 3D depth sensor and a flicker sensor on the back. Up front, there is a 12MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide camera and a ToF 3D depth sensor.
Under the hood, the HONOR Magic4 Ultimate is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. At the heart, it runs on Android 12-based Magic UI 6 and packs a 4,600mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast-charging. On the connectivity front, it gets support for Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, UWB, Infrared port, and a Type-C port.
HONOR Magic4 Ultimate will be available for purchase in China later this year. The handset is priced at CNY 8,000 (nearly Rs. 96,000) and it will be up for grabs in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White color options. The ultimate variant is currently listed for pre-booking on the Honor website in China. Honor is yet to reveal when the smartphone will be available in other markets.
